You could also take turns reading each page (you read a page, your student reads a page, etc.) If you or your student need some support with reading using a talker, see the video of me reading the title using my talker below.
3. Have your kiddo use their scissors to cut out the different words on the "Scrambled Sentences" page. Then have them glue the words on a seperate piece of paper to put the sentences back together. This task seems to be tricky in our classroom, so your student will probably need some extra support. Here are some ideas of what you can do to help.
-
group the words that belong in each sentence together (3 piles, one pile for each sentence)
-
Draw visuals on a separate piece of paper (I usually draw a "uppercase or BIG letter visual" on the left side of the page and a "punctuation mark visual" on the right side of the page.
-
Read the sentence out loud and then have your student read the words to glue them in the right order
-
Write the sentence on a paper and have your student match up the correct words.
-
Don't forget to have them read the sentences when they're finished building them.
-
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE WITH THIS TASK! Even though it may be tough, we've been working hard in our classroom on forming, speaking, and writing using sentences. YOU ALL ARE SUPERHEROES AND I APPRECIATE YOU PUTTING ON YOUR TEACHER HAT!!! :)

It was SO wonderful seeing all of your kiddos smiling faces last night. I miss them so very much. Seeing them made my entire week! We will plan on doing a pajama read aloud every Thursday at 7PM. :)

Have your student answer the questions in this interactive morning meeting boom card.
Have your student listen to this "I'm talkin' about the weekend" song on Youtube that we usually play on Fridays! Woohoo!! Have a great weekend!

Reading
1. Go over the new high frequency word list. Have your child find each word on their communication device and use it in a sentence or find something related to the word around your house.

Mathematics
1. Take the placement test on happynumbers.com if you haven't already (see directions below).
2. If you have taken the placement test (I can see that some of you have--GREAT JOB!), continue working. Have your kiddo complete at least one challenge today!

Log in directions
Each of you have a class code and a password on a laminated piece of paper.
1. Go to www.happynumbers.com
2. Click the yellow "I'm a student" button
3. Type our class code in 158 519
4. Click on your student's name and type their password
5. The first "challenge" you can click on is a placement test to help determine what academic level your child needs. It's 20 multiple choice questions and there are usually visuals included. Try not to help your kiddo too much with this so it can place them in an accurate level for their needs. Right and wrong answers do not matter here!
REMINDER!
Our live "pajama party" read aloud over ZOOM IS TONIGHT night at 7:00PM (some parents are essential workers and this time is when they are available). I will be dropping off bags of popcorn today if I haven't already so they have a yummy snack to eat (or lick) while we're reading and visiting with each other. I will send you a link to access the zoom meeting. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL OF YOUR FACES! :) :)
